Kabul, Afghanistan: The executive
board of the HPC led by Professor Rabani had a meeting with ten members of the Pakistani
senate led by H.E. Salim Saifullah Khan in the office of high peace council. Discussions
were made on the Afghan Peace process.
In this gathering, both sides emphasized on
the better relationships between the countries and declared that a peaceful region will
cause ensuring peace in the whole world.
The executive board of the HPC and
representatives of the Pakistan senate said that establishment of joint committee which
would be led by Afghanistan and Pakistan ‘s foreign Ministers is very
important and declared this as an imperative step towards expediting the peace
process in the country and emphasized on the urgent establishment of this committee.
During this meeting the HPC executive board expressed that peace in Afghanistan is
advantageous for other regional countries so the neighbors should play a constructive
role in this process. The Pakistani delegation was invited by the Afghan High Peace
Council.
The High Peace Council was established in September 2010 based on the
recommendations of the National Consultative Peace Jirga. During this tenure the HPC
garnered the international support for the peace and reintegration’s prgoramme.
